Medical Assistants are multi-skilled allied health professionals that demonstrate proficiency in entry-level ambulatory health care settings. A Medical Assistant will perform both administrative and clinical roles while assisting physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals.

Attend an Accredited program at a trade school that includes an externship. Upon completion, graduate after passing the national test provided by NAHP before seeking your first position as a Medical Assistant!
A good program length is 8 months long and includes an externship, where you will get the important, hands-on experience in the real world. A good Medical Assistant program can be blended with both in person and online training. But overall, do not cut corners with short training programs that will leave you with only the most basic skills in healthcare.
You will learn anatomy and physiology, how to take vital signs, injections, drawing blood (venipunctures), billing and coding, performing ECG’s, medical law and ethics, medical records and chart documentation,urinalysis, patient education, infection control, microbiology and disease, assisting with minor surgery, patient interview, assisting with all medical specialties, & patient safety, just to name a few. Graduate as a Medical Assistant with a EKG, Phlebotomy and Administration certificate at the same time by taking multiple tests.
This MA program is not available in Spanish at this time. The certification exam is only offered in English. However there are ESL classes available that can help refresh your English skills and many classes are offered at little or no cost in the area and online.
You might qualify for financial aid! To qualify for Federal Financial aid you must first apply for it using the FAFSA application. The application is based on household size, income, and citizenship status. The great news is that we can assist you through the entire process.
You can get a job in the healthcare field as a Medical Assistant as soon as you complete the program and graduate. Most employers also want you to have a MA certification in addition to the diploma.
Pay and salary are based mainly on qualifications and experience. Generally, the more skilled you are and how long you have been working in the field will determine your rate of pay.

Medical Assistants record patient history and personal information, measure vital signs, such as blood pressure, assist physicians with patient exams, give injections as directed by physician, schedule patient appointments,prepare blood samples for lab testing, enter patient information into medical records, billing and coding, schedule lab tests or radiology exams.
